Material and Fit Comparison
Material and Density
The M Comnova Outdoors cover uses 600D Oxford fabric with a waterproof PU coating. This dense weave offers strong resistance to rain, snow, and wind. The Char-Broil Performance cover uses 18mil polyester fabric. While it includes a sun fade protective liner and sealed seams for water resistance, the specific denier count is not listed. The 600D specification on the M Comnova cover suggests a heavier, more robust textile construction compared to the standard polyester blend found in the Char-Broil model. You get a clear indication of fabric weight with the M Comnova option.
Size and Dimensions
Size compatibility is critical for grill covers. The Char-Broil Performance cover is designed for large grills up to 72 inches wide, measuring 72 x 24 x 42 inches. It fits 5, 6, or 7 burner gas grills. The M Comnova cover is much smaller, measuring 46 x 23 x 48.5 inches. It is specifically tailored for Char-Griller barrel grills without a side firebox. These two covers serve entirely different size classes. You cannot use the M Comnova cover for a large gas grill, nor the Char-Broil cover for a standard barrel grill. Your choice depends entirely on your grill's physical footprint.
UV Protection
Both covers address sun damage, but with different approaches. The Char-Broil model features a sun fade protective liner integrated into the 18mil polyester fabric to resist UV fading. The M Comnova cover highlights a specific durability claim, stating it can withstand at least 3 years of UV aging. It also uses fading-resistant materials. While the Char-Broil cover provides standard UV protection through its liner, the M Comnova cover offers a quantified lifespan for its resistance. This specific data point gives you a clearer expectation of long-term sun exposure performance with the M Comnova product.
Fit and Securing
How the cover stays on matters in windy conditions. The M Comnova cover includes adjustable Velcro magic bands on the sides. These allow you to tighten the cover around different grill sizes to prevent it from blowing off. The Char-Broil Performance cover does not list any adjustable straps, Velcro, or locking mechanisms in its specifications. It relies on its extra-large dimensions to fit over the grill. If you live in a windy area, the adjustable securing system on the M Comnova cover provides a tangible advantage for keeping the cover in place.
Weight and Portability
The Char-Broil Performance cover weighs 2.68 pounds. This moderate weight helps it stay on the grill without being overly cumbersome to handle. The M Comnova cover does not list a specific weight in its specifications. However, 600D Oxford fabric is typically heavier than standard polyester. Without a listed weight, you cannot directly compare the portability or wind resistance based on mass alone. The Char-Broil model provides a concrete weight value, allowing you to gauge how heavy the cover will be when you need to move it.
Choose Your Grill Cover
Owner of a large multi-burner gas grill
The Char-Broil Performance cover is sized at 72 inches wide, 42 inches high, and 24 inches deep. It fits 5, 6, or 7 burner grills, as well as extra-large combo grills and smokers. The 18mil polyester fabric includes a sun fade protective liner and sealed seams for water resistance. This design ensures your large appliance stays protected from UV damage and moisture without excess bulk.
Owner of a Char-Griller barrel grill without side box
This M Comnova Outdoors cover is tailored for Char-Griller barrel grills lacking a side fire box. It measures 46 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 48.5 inches high. The 600D Oxford fabric features a waterproof PU coating and double-stitched seams for heavy-duty protection. Adjustable Velcro bands secure the cover tightly, preventing wind from blowing it off while shielding your grill from rain, snow, and debris.
User prioritizing waterproofing and wind resistance
The M Comnova cover uses 600D Oxford fabric with a PU coating for superior waterproofing. Its adjustable Velcro closure system allows you to tighten the fit around the grill, which helps prevent the cover from blowing away in windy conditions.
