i COVER vs GuardKove Cover Comparison
Form Factor
The i COVER 29-Inch Round Grill and Smoker Cover is designed for round appliances, specifically fitting 22-inch Weber grills and vertical smokers. Its dimensions are 29 inches wide by 29 inches deep and 38 inches tall, creating a dome shape that suits kettle-style grills and barrel smokers. In contrast, the GuardKove 58-Inch 1000D Grill Cover is built for rectangular gas grills. It measures 58 inches wide, 25 inches deep, and 44.5 inches tall. This shape aligns with popular three-to-five burner grills like the Weber Genesis II series. You must choose the shape that matches your grill’s footprint, as neither cover fits the other’s target appliance type.
Material Density
Both covers use Oxford fabric, but the GuardKove cover specifies a 1000D high-density weave. The product data states this upgraded fabric offers tear resistance improved by 200% compared to traditional 420D, 600D, or 900D materials. This higher density suggests greater toughness against abrasion from branches or rough handling. The i COVER cover is described as lightweight yet sturdy Oxford material with a PVC coating, but it does not list a specific denier count. The 1000D specification gives GuardKove a clear advantage in stated material thickness and tear strength metrics.
Waterproofing
Both brands utilize PVC lining to ensure waterproof performance. The i COVER cover features a PVC coating on its Oxford material and includes a bottom drawstring closure to shield against splashing water and rain. The GuardKove cover takes a more complex approach with a triple protection system. It combines a high-density waterproof outer layer, a PVC waterproof lining, and heat-sealed waterproof tape. This additional heat-sealed tape layer is designed to block rain and snow moisture more effectively than a standard coating alone, offering a more robust barrier against water penetration for your grill.
Wind Resistance
Securing the cover in windy conditions is handled differently by each brand. The i COVER cover relies on a bottom drawstring closure to create a snug fit around the base of the grill or smoker. This method pulls the fabric tight against the appliance to prevent wind from lifting it. The GuardKove cover uses a dual-side buckle windproof design. It features two adjustable buckle straps that can be tightened around the grill for a secure hold. The buckle system allows for more precise tension adjustment compared to a simple drawstring, providing a stable fit even in gusty weather.
UV Protection
Both covers are designed to withstand sunlight, but GuardKove provides more specific metrics. The i COVER cover is labeled as UV-resistant and uses UV-resistant materials to protect against harsh elements and maintain original condition. The GuardKove cover uses UPF 50+ professional-grade UV-resistant fabric. This rating blocks 99.99% of harmful UV rays and is guaranteed to not fade for three years. The UPF 50+ rating offers a quantifiable measure of sun protection that exceeds the general UV-resistant claim found in the i COVER specifications.
Included Accessories
The i COVER package includes only the cover itself, with no additional accessories listed in the data. The GuardKove cover also includes the cover, but adds two specific functional features: reinforced side handles and side air vents. The handles allow for easier lifting and placement on larger grills. The air vents enhance internal air circulation to reduce moisture buildup and prevent rust. These added features provide more utility for daily use and maintenance compared to the basic cover-only offering from i COVER.
Which Grill Cover Fits Your Setup
Owner of a vertical smoker or kettle grill
The i COVER model measures 29 inches by 29 inches with a 38-inch height. This shape fits round appliances like 22-inch Weber grills and vertical smokers. It features a bottom drawstring closure to keep wind out. The Oxford material includes a PVC coating for waterproofing and UV resistance. This design shields your equipment from rain and sun exposure effectively.
Owner of a large 3-burner gas grill
The GuardKove cover measures 58 inches wide by 25 inches deep and 44.5 inches tall. It fits Weber Genesis II 3 Burner and Genesis 300 series grills. The 1000D fabric offers high tear resistance. Dual-side buckle straps secure the cover against wind. Side air vents reduce moisture buildup. This size and shape are ideal for standard rectangular gas grills.
User seeking maximum tear resistance
GuardKove uses upgraded 1000D high-density Oxford cloth. This fabric has twice the tear strength of traditional 420D or 600D materials. It resists branches scraping and intense sunlight. The cover includes heat-sealed waterproof tape for triple protection. Reinforced side handles make lifting easier. This heavy-duty construction is built to withstand harsh outdoor conditions for years.
User needing a snug fit for round gear
The i COVER design includes a bottom drawstring closure. This allows you to tighten the fit around round bases. It prevents the cover from blowing off in windy weather. The double-layer bound edge shields against splashing water. The compact 29-inch diameter fits smaller round items like barrel smokers. This feature ensures a secure seal for vertical cooking equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Is the i COVER 29-Inch Round Grill and Smoker Cover waterproof?
Yes, the i COVER model provides waterproof protection for your outdoor cooking equipment. The specifications list water resistance as waterproof, ensuring your grill stays dry during rain. This feature helps prevent rust and corrosion on your charcoal kettle grill or vertical smoker. You can rely on this cover to shield your appliance from moisture damage while it sits outdoors.
What size is the GuardKove 58-Inch 1000D Grill Cover?
The GuardKove cover measures 58 inches in length, 25 inches in width, and 44.5 inches in height. This large footprint is designed to fit side-by-side grills or larger setups. The 1000D fabric density adds durability to these dimensions. It is specifically recommended for Weber Genesis II 3-burner grills that require this substantial coverage area.
Does the i COVER brand offer UV protection for grills?
Yes, the i COVER 29-inch round cover offers UV protection alongside its waterproof capabilities. The product verdict highlights reliable UV protection as a key benefit. This feature helps prevent fading and material degradation from sun exposure. If you store your kettle grill or smoker outside, this cover helps maintain the condition of your appliance against sunlight damage.
Which cover is better for a vertical smoker?
The i COVER 29-inch model is the better choice for vertical smokers. Its dimensions include a 38-inch height, which accommodates the tall profile of most vertical smokers. The round shape also fits the base of these units well. GuardKove focuses on rectangular grills, so the i COVER design provides a more secure and appropriate fit for your smoker.
What is the fabric density of the GuardKove cover?
The GuardKove 58-inch cover uses 1000D fabric density. This specification indicates a heavy-duty, thick material that resists tears and abrasions. Higher denier counts generally mean better durability for outdoor gear. This fabric choice supports the cover's waterproof claims and ensures it can withstand rough outdoor conditions while protecting your Weber grill from the elements.
Can the GuardKove cover fit a 22-inch Weber kettle grill?
The GuardKove cover is not designed for a 22-inch Weber kettle grill. It measures 58 inches long, which is far too large for a standard 22-inch round kettle. The i COVER model is specifically sized for 22-inch Weber grills. Using the GuardKove on a small kettle would result in a loose, insecure fit that offers less protection.

Its waterproof and UV-resistant features make it suitable for protecting your charcoal grill or smoker from weather elements.
